Celebrated Wildlife Painter
M. Morgan Warren, known to her UVic classmates as Mary Morgan , has become one of Canadas most celebrated painters of birds. She has created more than 350 original watercolours that combine a natural charm with anatomically accurate detail.
In 1994 she presented a gift of her work to HRH The Prince Philip KG KT, and her painting A Christmas Robin was selected for the prestigious Save the Children Fund Christmas campaign.
Recently Warren completed a work accepted for presentation to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and has had a painting chosen for the 1995-96 Save the Children Fund Christmas Campaign.
Warren has supported cultural and conservation causes through donations of her work to such organizations as the Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery, the Victoria Symphony, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and Ducks Unlimited. Her paintings were selected for the display posters promoting the Goldstream Provincial Park and Swan Lake Nature Centres in Victoria and the Brant Festival in Parksville/Qualicum Beach. She was also one of the artists chosen to contribute to the Carmanah book, recording the splendor of the Carmanah Valley.
Warren has pioneered the use of stochastic screening in photolithographic editions of her work, which experts throughout North America claim are the finest art prints produced to date.
Warren welcomes visitors to her studio, open daily (when she is not sketching in the field) after 1:30 p.m. at Canoe Cove marina near Sidney, B.C., telephone 655-1081.

Here in Peace
We ask nothing
Only to live here
In the green stillness
Far from sounds
Of metal and man:
Before he existed
We knew the aeons;
Down from the dawn age
We raised our chicks,
Hunted and were content.
Now men claim all
Clamouring, breeding
And building strange nests
Side by side
Without thought or respect.
We ask them
To leave us in peace
As part of the living earth;
They were chosen
To guard and cherish
All the rest of us
Who dwell in its lands and oceans.
